So my q is according to 1St law of thermodynamics when work is done on the system the volume will decrease .... according to theory of expansion when heat is added the volume will increase ... so how can u relate this two ?? Tnx
Oct 24, 2021what, who says the volume of the system will decrease when a work is applied to it that is wrong, the whole point of the first law of thermodynamics is that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only altered in form. For any system, energy transfer is associated with mass crossing the control boundary, external work, or heat transfer across the boundary. These produce a change of stored energy within the control volume. or in another word, the entropy (order of chaos) of a system will always increase.
