Actually there's no shortage, shortage is a concept made by capitalism to increase profit, since scarcity raises price, so it would be wise for the capitalist to spew propaganda of shortage. Sure resource might be getting scarce, but that's because capitalist take those resources and instead of making commodities that satisfies the human needs, it creates something which will get him more profit. And regarding the Murphy law line, just because it has the word "law" in it doesn't make it a law in the scientific sense, it's sth that's can't be proven or disproven, just a saying, therefore one cannot use it in this equation, or as a premise to an argument.
