#education These question is for med students, residents, and seniors in general. What is the one thing you wish you knew in your preclinical years? By: Anonymous Ask Anything Ethiopia
May 24, 2020Fellow med student here.💪🏾 ⚫If you are considering joining medicine... make sure it's not because of other people's pressure... and that u really want to dedicate ur life to this okay! that's really important cause u won't get used to it it takes blood and sweat....you need a certain type of commitment and dedication to do it. ⚫ if u have decided then this are the things people have told me but wish I wuld have listened. 1. I wish I wuld have known that it is possible to score higher marks... we just settled for passing! as impossible as it seems and however everyone else tries to act like they have got it all together. Don't get intimidated believe me no one has it together until at least 2nd year is over. Do ur very best and graduate with a medal around ur neck! it's possible! 2. It is stressful believe me it's unimaginable stress. you need to accept it! know the tale signs and find ways around them. Don't avoid it. 3. you should have ur own pace of studying although it may be slow at first. you will improve and there will come a day when u can finish 1000 slides in 1 week or so! don't listen to people saying they went a 4th round when u r still at ur first. Trust in ur pace. 4. preclinical courses are shemdeda...repeat it as much as u can before the exam. 5. Enjoy urself, make friends! it might seem like moving alone may seem easier at times but everybody needs somebody keep that in mind. That being said prepare urself mentally for ur friends and maybe you repeating a year or two...or dropping out. It happens! umm aside from that you are still young experience life...Go to parties! have a bf/gf, take care of urself. Prioritize well! and u will be just fine. Hope I was helpful🤗
