Oct 15, 2021A port is a virtual point where network connections start and end . Ports are software-based and managed by a computer's operating system. Each port is associated with a specific process or service As an example take a website. Most or all websites are accessible through port 80 and 443 from your browser. This means, this ports are open points or doors for you to access the resources of the website. Let say example.com is a website. When you type this web address to your browser address bar and hit enter, the browser sends request to the website using 80 or 433( secure/SSL) port by default. The request looks like this 'get => http://example.com:80'. And the server respond with the contents of the website. Which contains HTML, JavaScript and CSS. If you setup your own webserver and if you open open another ports instead of 80 or 443, you need to specify it in the URL. Eg. http://example.com:8080 or whatever port you opened on the server. So you can take ports as a door to access content of the server. Also services, softwares and hardwares on your computer interact with each other through ports. Sry if i made a mistakes 😉 And you can contact me.
