I’m Orthodox and senbet temari.
I don’t want to talk bad about Protestants because growing up in Europe I have always had huge respect for them.
But the more I experience Protestants here in Ethiopia, the more I lose my respect I have for Protestants everyday.
There are so many Ethiopian Protestants that only focus on destroying the Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Everything they do and say about is negative.. How we pray to St. Mary or other saints, they make jokes about it about our rituals and yet at the same time they copy the same rituals and try to make them look as they were their own. Twaf mabrat is an Orthodx sirat, Not only ye Ethiopian Orthodox but ye Greek Orthodox etc. Ahun beze seat Protestant church twaf yaberalu. Keyet nw yayut?
It even came to a point where they “buy“ our believers. Example: Zemari Zerfie Kebede. She was a well known zemari in our Orthodox Church and now she became a Protestant. Orthodox bete kristian awdemeret lay yetezemerew Mezmur, zemarioch Ena senbet temarioch yakerebut Mezmur beze seat Protestant church wust be guitar Ena be chifra yetezemre yale eko nw.
Senbet temari or ewnetegna teketatay Orthodox kehonk, I am sure you know the story of Kidus Yared.
Ande mezmur be Orthdox haymanot wust ewnet Mezmur lemebal, awdemeret lay mezemer endichil, ye Kidus Yaredn mesfertoch memluat eko alebet.
It’s everybody’s right to change their religion from Orthodox but to steal our Mezmur and make it your own, is not only disrespectful but it also creates a gap between us because there are so many Orthodox who still listen to her Mezmur even it’s actually forbidden.
There are many more examples.
So even if they couldn’t take all our believers, they have achieved to create a gap between us.
Is this the faith what you want to believe in?
As I said before, I have huge respect for Protestants in general. But Ethiopian Protestants, sijemr amalachw Orthodox Tewadon serko ye rasachun mareg nwe.
For me constantly competing with another church and stealing from another church, is not a faith, it’s not a religion, and it’s definitely not the definition of being a Christian!
If you want to change to being a Protestant, go ahead, but please don’t claim you are a Senbet temari or know only half ye Orthdox Tarik. There’s no way that someone learns about our haymanot every week and still chooses this way. Ye senbet temari sim eyatefak nwe because if you truly had any questions, you would ask us first, but you came here and asked all these confusing questions and want to make it look like we don’t have any answers. But deep down you know, you just chose to not listen to us, your heart already chose another way. And you might believe it or not believe it but Orthodox will always have an answer when you’re ready.
Ethiopia, Hager Egziabher, le zelalem tinoralech. Orthodoxm Tewahedo le zelalem tenuralech❤️
