I see where you're coming from, but you are wrong. Nobody is better than anyone.
There are many reasons why they are currently "better" than African nations. There are multiple theories regarding the poverty of Africans. But the most interesting theory is one relating to our Geography.
You see Africa is taller than it is wide Eurasia, it is wider than it is tall with the equator passing roughly at the center of it. So WTF does this have to do with it, you might ask? The height of the continent make it have extremly different climates. Extreme north, has the same mediterranean climate, North(Sahara) is very hot and dry, just below Sahara there is the Sahel which has semi-arid climate, after that is the rainforest and almost symetrically the trend copies on the lower half of the continent. So lots of climate(This is just simplified version, there are many climate regions between these regions too). Lots of regions.
So these numerous number of regions creates division of culture and creationg of different tribes. So this affected the formation of what is needed most for civilization, land and people. There was no conquest. All the civilizations were small compared to the other Empires. This was because there were many regions who were just not the same, however if people had the same climate they would have the same problem in which they are forced to unite making them create some sort of unity, and through time - culture.
There are 3 things that help this argument.
1) The Empires in Europe and Asia follow the same logic.
- The Polar regions created Russia
- Western Temprate became Europe
- Eastern Temprate became China
- The Desert became the Islamic Empire
- The Tropical became India
- The Mediterranean became roughly the Roman Empire
2) The Axum Empire is one of the greatest (if not the greatest) in Africa. This could also be because the climates of the region was roughly the same. (It doesn't have to be the same, roughly it was the same), and it was an empire who crossed the Red Sea and conquered Yemen. Another greatest empire in Africa is the Mali Empire and it was also in an area of same climate.
But during the 18th century Africa was colonized by Europeans, who benefiited from unity because of having same culture. So since Africa wasn't united, they had no choice. After that, the colonizers left the country with borders they caved, making people of different culture be part of one country. So, this created much more conflict (Rwanda and Congo). So it would take time for these people to feel sense of belongingness to their country. So, it creates ethnic tension.
TL; DR:
Culture Unites People Through Culture. Africa didn't have a unifying climate.
