I had the same frustrations when I was a software engineering student. I agree with what others have said here. The most important skills are html, CSS and JavaScript - they are foundational. All frameworks build on these, so learning these well will help you no matter what framework you end up using. React and Vue are popular right now. For backend, pick a language/framework. They all have a different level of abstraction. But you'll likely work with databases, ORMs, authentication, and so on. I see a lot of Django, Laravel, NodeJS right now. Every time you're starting to learn something new I think it's almost necessary to follow tutorials because you need a lot of guidance at that point. But don't get stuck watching tutorials for too long. After a point, it's very easy to falsely feel like you're learning. I recommend building something. This helps you really learn and make things click. Git, GitHub, and deploying Git & GitHub help you share your work online and also collaborate with others. You don't need to learn everything about them for now, but learn the basics. Don't let your projects be folders on your PC! Most frontend sites can be deployed for free! It's very exciting to see your site on a (free) URL that you can share with friends or on a CV/portfolio. Check out Netlify and Render. Try to get a job, or freelance. No better way to learn.
